A Contradicting Theme

I fell into the arms of a distant dream,

leaving behind a world I once knew.

It was a happiness I never thought I’d see,

but somehow that happiness

had led me to you.

We danced upon the cloudless sky,

our worries beneath our feathered feet.

Our wings took us far and wide—

to places so unimaginable,

we thought they were only fantasies.

We thought we’d float along forever,

like clouds hovering the earth above,

but eventually we lost all our feathers,

and found ourselves falling—deeply in love—

and yet, we were still together.

Life no longer felt like a dream,

or at least, I couldn’t tell them apart.

It never made much sense to me,

but at least we had a fresh start,

in the arms of a distant dream—

a contradicting theme.
