253. My Little Star

Published on 29 January 2018 at 18:11

My little star,

how I wish I could’ve met you.

But really, it’s okay—

we’ll meet some other day.

I wish you could’ve stayed

to brighten up our lives,

and wash away the sorrows

that may bring rain tomorrow.

Things happen for a reason,

but it doesn’t mean it’s right.

It just means we have to try harder—

and maybe then, we’ll see your light.

And I’ve learned a lot from you,

even if it was for just a short time.

I learned that it’s okay to cry,

even when all the skies are blue.

After all, you became a life lesson

that I plan to always remember.

You were a gift inside an empty box—

and with this, I have no words.

My little star,

I hope my tears reach you.

For I love you, and I always will,

as your light shines brightest

upon my window sill.
