The Light To Your Heart

If you could be anybody,

who would you be?

If you could go anywhere,

what would you see?

If you could choose one story,

which would you read?

And if you were told two secrets,

which one would you keep?

Well, I’ll tell ya all the answers!

If you could be anybody,

you should always be yourself.

If you could go anywhere,

go with all your heart, and nothing else.

If you could choose but one story,

read all that’s sitting upon your shelf.

And if you were told two secrets,

make sure they are both kept well.

For all the questions that you seek

may be closer than you can see—

closer, but hardly close enough to reach,

unless you’re you, which is all you need to be.

Then it is as easy as one, two, or three—

or three, two, one, whichever way you might read.

And as this might not make much sense,

and things may seem a little out of whack,

I’ll tell ya something in the present tense:

Today is the day you must stay on track

and follow the long, long road ahead,

where you may just ask yourself this:

Are my dreams the dreams I dream in bed?

Or are they the dreams I dream inside my head?

The answer is not quite so—for you are alone

when you dream upon that road.

And I’d say, never find yourself there,

by your lonesome, where nobody cares.

But I’d also say, it would be alright

if you were the one to carry the light.

And as long as you know where you are,

that light will lead you straight to your heart.
